Broken Skies – Andrea Emmes Narrator

Theresa Kay’s 1st book in Broken Skies series is narrated by 1st time narrator Andrea Emmes.
Publisher: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform; 1 edition (March 10, 2014)

Andrea has the perfect voice for the lead character and voices the other characters from old to the very young both male and female very well. Theresa Kay has given proper respect to each genre in this Science Fiction, Young Adult, and Dystopia collaboration.

The story starts off quickly and catches you up along the way with details as needed in this fast passed audiobook. Jax Mitchell’s world has been a little crazy. Her mom died at the birth of her and her twin brother and their father died after raising them through their early teens.

The earth was deveststed 30 years prior by man made biological weapons and then 10 years ago the E’rikon arrived. Aliens who created their own domed city where they lived not helping or communicating with the people of earth.

Until now… When Jax and her brother see an E’rikon craft land in a field she climbs a tree to investigate. After being seen her brother acts as a decoy so she can escape. When the E’rikon take her brother and leave a disabled one of their own behind Jax will do anything to get her brother back. Even if she has to work with the unknown alien to do it.

This story and direction of this First book, in what I hope will be a continuing series on audiobook, is a great attention keeping book.

This book was gifted to me for an honest review.

Learning to Swim

Annie Cosby’s 1st book in her Hearts Out of Water series, Narrated by Wendy Pitts is published by Write For You a Publishing and in Audiobook form by the Author Ann Cosby.

This is a touching YA title about Cora an 18 year old girl on Summer Break before college. She wants to stay home with her friends who are all leaving for separate schools in the fall, and this will be their last summer together.

Cora’s mother has different ideas taking Cora’s Father and Cora to their newly purchased fixer upper summer home known as the Pink Palace. The name does not begin to describe the hideousness of this house.

Embarrassed and away from her friends Cora ‘a Summer is ruined. I almost forgot her mother wants to set her up with another rich boy from the Big House’s which Cora has no interest.

Cora does meet a nice old women Mrs. O’Leary who seems to be loosing her way with reality but does love to tell Cora long tales from the sea.

As local mysteries begin to come to Cora’s attention she try’s to put the pieces of others lives together while contemplating her own future.

Love is in the air, class discrimination between those who live in the Bug Housed and the Locals, along with Cora’s families unmentionable secret bring this YA novel to a climax that will leave you the listener crying and smiling.

The Spirit Filled Life – Audiobook Review

This audiobook, which will be available in August 2014, by Thomas-Nelson Publishing is Written by Dr. Charles Stanley Founder of InTouch Ministries and Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Atlanta, it is Narrated by Maurice England. Maurice has narrated over 100 audiobooks and as a believer you can hear in his presentation he is more than just reading a book he is ministering the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Dr Stanley’s Audiobook on the Spirit Filled Life is deep as well as simple. It explained to me that we are all Spirit Filled when we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior. The fact that some Christians seek to speak in tongues and others do not does not diminish the level of a believers Spirit Filledness.

The Holy Spirit is a Helper and a Guide. An example that helped me is one of an Honest Contractor. The Contractor provides the plans, the equipment, the material and then guides the construction insuring everything is up to code and that no unsafe shortcuts are taken that will cause damage to the structure in the future.

We are the structure, God is building us on the outside to look like Jesus. He placed the plans inside of us upon our salvation. When God looks at us inside through the blood of Jesus he sees Jesus. The foundation is solid the structure we will become will be the fulfillment of Gods plans.

Dr Stanley speaks of our consciousness or our minds, our wills and our emotions. These are three areas that were corrupted from birth and part of our sinful nature. These areas must be brought under the obedience of Christ and the training, teaching, and equipping of the Holy Spirit.

In what ways does this happen? Well there are things that you will notice as a believer. Peace about a decision, a check in your Spirit when someone is lying to you or something is be proposed to you that will take you out of the Perfect Will of God. A scripture brought to your mind at the perfect time, or patience and a graceful, merciful disposition because you know regardless of what you see you know God is in control and Faithful.

So does living a spirit filled life mean you speak in Tongues? I would have to say no. Living a Spirit Filled Life means Living a Life Guided and Directed by the Holy Spirit. There are many gifts of the Spirit, all of which are available and in action today around the globe.

John 15:5 New International Version:
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

This is the main point of much of this book. Think of a vineyard. In Oregon where I live we have a perfect climate for some of the best vineyards in the United States. After harvest we often see vineyards that are nothing but bear branches. They are there to hold the vine and hold the fruit the vine produces, the branches never produce fruit.

The vine produces the fruit. Jesus said You the Believers are the Branches and I Christ am the Vine. Christ produces the Fruit, the Branches Present the Fruit. We as believers ask for the Fruit of the Spirit, we strive to have the Fruit of the Spirit and the whole time Jesus is saying, “You are not the Vine, You are not the Fruit Producer, I, Jesus, am the Vine, I, Jesus produce the fruit.”

Without the vine you will be cut down put into a pile and burned as rubbish. But with the vine you will see much fruit. Living the Spirit Filled Life is knowing you are the Branch and that He, The Holy Spirit, is the Vine. Being the Vine He is responsible for the fruit. So be a well tended to, prepared branch. The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth. The evidence will be the fruit growing on your branches.

The Holy Spirit is not asking for rededication but for a complete surrender. Once the listener has completely surrendered to the Holy Spirit they can begin to experience what Dr. Stanley calls the Wonderful Spirit Filled Life.

This book does bring several ideas to the forefront and does attempt to provide the information necessary to Live a Spirit Filled Life. Readers can expect biblical truths throughout this book that they can use to live a victorious Spirit Filled Life.

Dream Child Book #3 – Audiobook Review

Dream Child by J.J. DiBenedetto and Narrated by Heather Jane Hogan is DiVenedetto’s third book in the Dream Series. At this time the first four book are available on Audible.com as well as a short story that takes place between book 3&4 as Betty and Howard Barnes take a European Vacation.

Dream Child revolves around Sara’s 4 year old daughter who has inherited Sara’s Gift. You learn that as in other books the ability to see others dreams only manifests itself if you meet the person. Keeping a 4 year old from meeting people that she may dream about is just another thing for Sara to think about when raising her daughter.

The audiobook is another excellent listen as Sara meets and begins to see the dreams of relatives and of a Congressman from her district, whom she happened to meet in Washington DC.

If you think you know what a Congressmen is thinking or dreaming about then you may begin to understand how disturbing those dreams could be.

Sara, while completing her residency and raising children at night and trying to save them during the day; will she solve the mystery of her dreams in time. Will she survive the stress. The personnel conflict and mental anguish are apparent and felt in every chapter.

I highly recommend this series for all but mostly for young women who want to do it all. Sara is an excellent roll model for anyone wanting to achieve their DREAMS….

Dream Doctor Dream Series#2 – Audiobook Review

Dream Doctor by J.J. DiBenedetto and Narrated by Heather Jane Hogan is the 2nd book in the Dream Series.

Once again Sara Barnes is back, having graduated from college and starting a new adventure: medical school. Her dreams have been her own for some time now; after her last adventure in “Dream Student”.  Now as Sara is living in close quarters with people again the dreams return. Some telling, some reveling, and some murderous.

As Sara trys to keep others dreams a secret, she finds a parallel to keeping secrets as a future doctor. How many secrets can Sara keep this time. Will her life be threatened once again because of what she dreams.

New characters are introduced into Sara’s life and the stress of medical school as well as her dreams start to affect every aspect of her life.

Medical School is a full endeavor all by itself, add Sara’s dreams, her friends troubled lives, and the possibility of murder; Sara must balance her Life, Love, and insatiable curiosity all while passing medical school and staying alive.

Dream Doctor is another great Listen, and the good news there are more. Look for my upcpming review of Dream Child and Dream Family.

I enjoy Heather Jane Hogans continued narration of this series. “Dream Doctor” as well as the entire Dream Series is an Excelent read or in my case listen.

Dream Student Dream Series #1 – Audiobook Review

Dream Student by J.J. DiBenedetto and Narrated by Heather Jane Hogan.

First some honesty. I review all types of books, this one I was reviewing for the Author and for something outside my normal pleasure listen. So my expectations were low. I was wrong, extremely wrong.

This book is incredible. The idea of seeing another persons dreams. The good you can use it for or the evil that can haunt you. This is movie worthy or at least a series on The CW. A Guilty Pleasure all the way.

Also Heather Jane Hogan, is a diamond from any angle. I loved her narration. If I needed a narrator she would be high on my list.

Sara Barnes is in college studying pre- med. Finals are coming up and she starts having nightmares of a young woman being assaulted and then murdered and her body dumped.

For nights Sara had similar dreams with the same characters. She thinks it’s anxiety somehow associated with finales until she sees the women’s picture in the paper. The women was found dumped dead as in Sara’s dream.

As Sara tries to understand what is happening she has mixed dreams some pleasant, some funny, some terrifying. As Sara begins to see more and more dreams of those around her, her safety and sanity are challenged. A intriguing and shocking ride to the very end.

This first book in the Dream series is a must listen to in audiobook format.
